We lucked out yesterday and the weather was great for a trip on the boat. It was a little windy, but we went to Holter Reservoir and were able to tuck back in a fairly protected area so it was really nice.
The fishing was decent too, we caught 7 trout and kept 5. This was the first trip of the year on the boat and it went pretty well. Sometimes that first trip out can be kind of interesting... Seems like things usually get forgotten, motors don't want to start, people forget to put the plug back in the bottom of their boat! (we saw many of these things at the boat launch... Clint lent our bucket to a nice man who had forgotten to put his plug back in before launching!!! But, as much as we hate to admit it, we have been there too!)
As fun days often do, the day went to fast! We got off the water around 3 and that put us home in time to get a few things done. Dane totally crashed once we got in the truck because he hadn't gotten his nap yet.
Here are a few pictures from our day!
Dane ready to net our catch!
Dane wasn't interested in posing next to me, but here was my first fish of the day.
Clint and Dane with a nice trout...
When we got home, Dane really wanted to see "his fish" again. So, Clint let him help while he was filleting them.
Our son is so funny... I think he is probably one of the few kids that thinks the fishing regulations and Cabelas magazines are actual books. Many times that is what we "read" as our bedtime story!!!
