WE DID IT!!!

Yesterday, Clint and I reached a goal that we had set for ourselves... we ran a half-marathon!

It took us 2 hours 19 minutes (just over 10 1/2 minute miles) and was 13.1 miles of fun! The weather was phenomenal... and since the run started at 6:15 am it wasn't too hot. We actually had a great time, and we are so happy that we did it! It was a goal that I had set after having Dane to help get me back into shape... and it definitely helped!
While we were running, Dane was relaxing at home...

After the run, we cleaned up and drove 2 hours to a wedding. Clint's friend, Brandon and his wife Clair had a wonderful ceremony at a place called Grassy Mountain Lodge. The scenery and ceremony were beautiful and Dane was awesome. I thought he might get fussy, but he actually was great and continued with his great attitude and smiles all through dinner. Here are a couple pictures. It was tough to get good ones, because we were in the back just in case we had to make a quick getaway with a fussy baby.

Clair and Brandon both looked great!!!

Clint and the happy groom!

Of course, I have to post a couple pictures of the little man! He is so much fun and is growing more every day!

This upcoming week is really busy and we are so excited. Gramps and Granny are coming from Oregon, and Aunt Courtney and Cousin Chloe are flying in from Michigan! We can't wait and will post lots of pictures!

Clint and Brock's fishing trip

While I was in Oregon, Clint and Brock went up to the cabin and spent the night. They took the boat and spent some time out on Willow Creek Reservoir. They fished for a while but they only caught 3 fish. The great thing was that they were all really nice trout, the smallest was 16" and the largest was 20". They fought well and had beautiful bright pink meat.
The weather was perfect for fishing and as you can see it looks like they had a really great time.

Grammy and Gramps!

Oregon was great! We had an awesome time and Dane was a total champ. It took us about 11 hours of driving each way so he spent a fair amount of time in the car. The class reunion was pretty good. I wish that more people had come, but it was good to catch up with those who did.

While we were there, Dane got to spend some time with Grammy and Gramps and had so much fun.

My dad built a fence to keep the cows out of Marsha's flower beds when they come to Montana(the cows are all free range) and I had to post a picture. It is an example of how my dad does things.. Never half-way or lite-weight. (even his grandson fits this!!!) I thought it was pretty cool, but it does block the view from the window so he will probably work on it when they get home.

I think I've mentioned it before, but my Dad is a very gifted mason. I never get tired of looking at what he has done! Here is a picture of his beautiful work.

Here are a couple pictures of the valley that Joseph (my hometown) is nestled in.

In between Lewis ton and Missouli you follow the Clearwater River. As you can see by the following picture, it is a beautiful drive, but by the time you reach the pass you are SO READY to be done!

Off to Oregon

Hello everyone! Dane and I are off to Oregon for my class reunion and a visit with Grandma Marsha and Grandpa Fred. We are pretty excited, but I'm sad that Clint can't make it with me. I will be gone until the middle of next week, so we will miss Clint like crazy, but it will go quick. He's going to have a good time while I'm gone, because he's going fishing with Brock!

When I get back I should have some more fun pictures to post, but in the meantime here are some pictures of the little man, and Grandma Karen!

A little fawn!

Once again we headed up to the cabin... This time we only went up for a day. We had to get the outhouse done because our privy permit was about to expire and we hadn't had the final inspection. It's fairly crazy that we could build the whole cabin up there and all we needed was the outhouse permit/inspection.

Anyway, on the drive up there, we saw a doe and fawn down along a dirt road. Clint turned around and drove down the dirt road and this little fawn was standing there. We didn't want to stay too long cause it was obviously a very new baby. It hadn't figured out how to work it's big long legs yet so it was really uncoordinated! It was the most darling little thing, and mom was just behind it in the brush. Sometimes I will zoom in on the pictures before I post so you can see the critter, but we were within feet of this guy, so I didn't need to zoom in! Pretty cool!

Here are a couple antelope fawns that I "snuck" up on. They were bedded down on the hill and mom was no where to be seen. If you look close you can see the one on the left is hiding pretty well, but the other one is fairly obvious!

While we were working on the outhouse, Dane hung out in the frontpack. Here he is with his cool hat and shades! I can't believe the things he lets me put on him!

And here is the completed outhouse... with trim and everything!

Learning how to do videos! Please be patient!

Winter in June!!!

Well, we woke up this morning to this scene... What???? It looks like it's winter. Oh yeah and that fenced in area you see... that's our garden. It's looking a little chilly for the tomatoes.

Brrrrrr

This evening we went and visited our friends (Mike and Aimee) at the hospital. They just had a healthy baby boy, Aiden! He weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was born Monday (the 9th). He and Dane are exactly 3 months apart, so we can't wait for them to get older so they can play together! We'll have to post some pictures of Aiden, and their other two kids as soon as we get some good ones. Shouldn't be too hard since they are all so cute!

I do have to say that I can't believe how little a newborn is! Amazing that Dane was that little 3 months ago. Now he looks like a monster next to Aiden!

A night at the cabin!

We went up to the cabin for a night and really enjoyed getting to see all the babies that are appearing. Here are some pictures of all the different critters we got to see...

Here are some baby geese (goslings). They lay down like this to try to hide from us...

Here is a baby gopher (or ground squirrel)

Sandhill Cranes
A Long Billed Curlew
These calves are so stinking cute!
This antelope had very unique horns... You can't really see in the picture, but they kind of turn forward.
Oh yeah, and the cutest baby we saw the whole trip...
A baby Houston!

This is an awesome table that Clint built.

I always think it is amazing when we come over the hill and can see the cabin with the mountains behind. The little black dot is our cabin!
